Stephan, I have noticed that my identical car has a tough time finding 5th when you really want to find it. If I just slide the handle up and slightly to the right it slides into gear without any thought. What may be happening is that you are all the way over into the reverse gear gate which is slightly to the right of 5th. My wife usually drives it and never has a problem with it. I sometimes drive it and sometimes have a problem with it. It would be helpful to me if the 5th gear detent was a bit more pronounced somehow. My experience with Hursts and most Japanese cars is that you really need to shift into fifth by going up against the gate (right) then forward very deliberately. Just take it a bit easier and see if it works.
