Subject: power steering pulleys out of line...

Hi, on my friends '86 900i the power steering belt managed to come off the pulleys, without actually breaking. Whilst puttng it back on he noticed that the power steering pulley and the other one (crankshaft?) were'n't in line! Is this normal for a 900i? Any reason for it? Can he remount the power steering pump so that the pulleys are in line? The belt is very long and often makes a noise at high revs. Is there anything that can be done to fix this, like adding an extra pulley? Thanks Steve Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
