Hi, another theory below: KAHA wrote: > This is probably caused by condens in the carburettor. > When the enghine has run more than 200000 km this is a comon problem. Yes, alcohol will help get rid of water that has condensed in the fuel system, but this sounds like a solution for *wintertime*. Karsten, pls correct me if I've misinterpreted you . . . My guess is that after running the car, the heat build-up in the engine bay is causing vapourisation of the fuel in the float chamber or at the fuel pump (bolted onto the head). This vapour lock will make it difficult for petrol to get pumped to your carburettor needle/mouthpiece. There is an adjustment on the carburettor that is designed to help dissipate vapour from the float chamber - very close to the idle adjustment screw. Best way of describing it is that it's a locknut holding a split bolt. Very difficult to describe the adjustment process by way of email, but I do have the workshop manual and it's in Swedish - vilket skulle passa Mikael alldeles utmärkt ;-) - so I can email a scanned page or two if needed. I never managed to *completely* get rid of the problem on my old 1983 99 GL (R.I.P.). After restarting the warm engine on a hot day, the car would go about 10 seconds before sputtering and dying. If I turned the key and pumped hard for about 5-10 seconds, I could make the vapour lock disappear and the engine would restart. And then I bet that the Australians reading this should be able to give some tips. Hot days are pretty commonplace there so someone from Down Under is sure to have some good ideas.
