Subject: Re: trouble removing alternator on '87 Turbo 900

I had the same problem and thought of a way i could get around it the next time. I drilled a hole paralell with the alternator bolt in the passenger side of the fire wall and removed the bolt through there. when i reinstalled the alternator i bought some booker rod(threaded rod ) the same size as the bolt and used two nuts to tighten up on the rod to hold the alterntor in place. I then put a rubber sealing grommet in the hole in the firewall. Nate t.
