Subject: AC Button Problems

I have a 1992 Saab 9000 5dr hatch, non-climate control. Recently, I noticed (due to the hot weather) that my AC did not seem to be working. I pressed the button, and the AC engaged, but the button did not stay in, and as soon as I let go of the button, the AC turned off. Bewildered, I held the AC button in, and the cool air came through, but the button would not remain engaged. I went through the troubleshooting manual and it said to replace the fuses, which I did, though it made no change. The recirculate button works fine, and remains pressed in. I called the local Saab dealer/service center and they say that it is probably a spring problem with the button or a problem with the button itself, and would cost about 90 bucks parts and labor to fix. My question in, has anybody else had this problem, and if so, how the heck can a little spring be 90 bucks! thanks, -Jalara
