Our 1988 Saab Turbo Convertible tends to sit a lot in the garage during the winter. The battery tended to drain while sitting there. I have since installed a battery kill switch which solved that problem. I narrowed the drain down to the alarm system and finally read the manual. It says that the Saab has two security systems. One is shut off by the switch in issue. I tried that, but still the battery drained. The manual went on to say that the motion sensor is shut off by holding the ignition key in the on position for 3 seconds and then shutting off. That shut down the motion sensor and the battery drain problem abated. The battery kill switch turned out to be the better solution.
