I too have a 9-3 and wanted to achieve the same results. The back of the deck in the dash has a pre-amp out, din plug (Blaupunkt has a din to RCA adapter that is configured the same way as the Saab) I then purchased a Kenwood amplified sub-woofer and wired it into the existing unit and it sounds great. Running the wires from the front of the car to the back was a little tricky but I was able to be neat and discrete! The 9-3 is pre-wired for a CD changer in the back of the car, which is where I took the power for the sub. Don't even try to feed the wires from the passenger cabin to the battery. I found it was impossible. Maybe a professional can do better. This set up including wires and the din plug cost me $350 (Canadian) Hope this helps.
