Subject: 87, 9000 Turbo aut, Check engine light

Some days ago while driving the Check engine lit up and when I tried to give some throttle the engine choked (on my way home I did slowly get it up to normal speed downhill but it's oh so wheek and slows upphill), I also notised that the momentary fuel consumtion didn't change when i gave more throttle, it seemed like the fuel measurment gave a constant value and only the speed meas. varied. Anyone got some tips what to check for? I'v got a "do it yourself" book but it just says go to SAAB, they will plug their diognostic equiptment in and know whats wrong, well I don't have the mony to get it fixed so I'll have to do it myself, the problem is I can't find out whats wrong. I have check the sensors I've found but can't find anything that seems broken (but according to the schematics there should be a few more and I don't know where they are placed). My book says it's either the fuel injection (LH-Jetronic whithout lamdasond) or the EGRsystem (on which I don't have any schematic or description ). I have tried to isolate pin 19 on the EDU but the light won't go off anyway so maybe it is the EGR? (or is it reversed logic on the lamp so it's on if pin 19 is not low?)(on the schematics there are two wires goin in to the errorlamp, one from the EDU and one from the ignition box or APC but I can't find that wire, I supose I will have to get the dashboard off and check what wires that are connected to the lamp and try to follow it back.) As far as I can find all vent and vaccum hoses are ok. Please if you can help me, answer this here or mail me (remove the nospam in my address)!! -- Mvh Anders E
