Recognizing that anything mechanical can fail at any given time, Saab turbos are considered to be very trouble-free. Of course, you do have to change the oil frequently, and preferably use synthetic to kccp the oil from coking in the turbo. Friend of mine runs a Saab/Volvo independent repair shop, and he replaces a couple of turbos a year-- My 85 900T had the turbo replaced (metal failure) about 150,000 miles ago. Dick in Falls Church
