FWIW, my 9-5 manual (RHD, Model Year 2000, dated 1999) says that the warning light only works on the driver side and "(on certain markets only, this also applies to the passenger side)". In my case (an 9-5 Aero Estate), it does work on the passenger side as well (although I do have heated seats). The manual covers the Australian market as there are specific references to 'Australia only' elsewhere in the manual so it does look as if it has already been corrected in the more recent version of the manual.
