How did you? > I have a 9000 CSE with the custom roof racks that fit into mounting holes under the weather strip above the doors. I believe the 9-5 has kept the same system. When I tie down my 16.5 foot Mad River Explorer with only two 1.25 inch flat nylon webbing straps it is as solid as a rock at 70 mph in significant crosswinds. I use strips of split large plastic tubing on the rack bars to protect the wood gunwales. The only thing you have to be aware of is that for some reason nylon webbing loosens when wet. So, if caught in a shower I always stop and tighten the straps. Even when a little loose from being wet I don't think there would be much danger of the canoe flying off (assumeing that the middle of your canoe is a little bigger than where the two straps are). In any case, the rack made to fit into the mounting holes gives one a secure feeling. Happy paddling, Ramsey Frist
