hello, my '87 900 Turbo 16v (basically the same engine as yours) performs about the same. i have a 5 spd in mine, so it performs better than the auto (you didn't say what your was), and if i need to take off quickly i just run the revs a little higher before letting out the clutch. it is kind of anoying having that flat spot though. there are times when i hit a light still rolling and i shift to a reasonable gear (like at 10-15 MPH i'd go to 2nd) and it dogs a little bit until around 2500-2700 RPM. once i hit that range on the tach i rocket like no tomorrow. so at highway speeds it has plenty of guts, even in 5th. and on the rare occasion that i have to blow some punk (driving a VW, BMW, or a Mazda ;-) away coming off the line, once i get through 2500 RPM in first, then he's mine, cause then i can keep the RPM high enough to stay in my power/torque band as i shift. -- Nate t.
