Subject: Grinding sound when engaging reverse...

Hi! Car: 85' 9000 T16, 240000 miles , manual tranny. Sometimes i get grinding noise when engaging reverse, especially when transmission is warmed up. It helps to shift to 2-nd gear first and then into reverse, but often it grinds anyway. What to do? Can this damage my tranny in the longer term? Are syncros weary? (I bet they are after 240k miles ). Is this hard ($$?) to fix? Thank you.
