On a UK gallon, I get an indicated 30 to 34 mpg from my '99 2.3T 9-5. I have seen 38mpg when cruising speed is held back to 65mph. This is a manual transmission of course. I test drove a 2.3T aero with a 4 spd auto box and the computer showed 16-20mpg. I would blame the transmission.
