Three things that have appeared recently with age are a leaking battery in the CD player (the CD will not eject, and eventually the CD/radio behave erratically), the throttle position sensor in the throttle body dies (you will suddenly have only a mechanical linkage to the accelerator), and the mounting bracket to the catalytic converter cracked then broke free (welding is preferable to the $1200 replacement cost). Some things I did to improve the car include replacing the 5W lamp in the center console with a 3W lamp (like used in the lighted vanity mirrors). The 5W lamp gets hot enough to melt a CD jewel case. The rear speakers are out of phase with the front speakers; reversing both rear speakers improves the sound significantly (see Audio magazine, June '94). Periodically, carefully dust off the temperature sensor (it's in a glass encapsulated body like a diode). And I absolutely love my '93 9000. Just had the 65k service, and the alternator's fine (thus far)...
