Sounds like the dashpot again. Has it unwound so far as to hold the the throttle near wide open ? Did on my 87 9000. Check to see if it's too far unwound, and if it has a nut on the underside. Put one on if so (after winding it down). (this dashpot thing is the little "shock absorber" under the throttle control, on the outside of the intake, way at the back by the firewall). -chris In article <8nid8q$ls1$1nopsam1.deja.com>, bradford <garrettt3nopsamphia.net> wrote: > got in my 88 9000T the other day and I noticed the rmpms screams to > about 4 1/2 instantly and just stayed there...so i thought it might be > the idle becuase I had problem with my AIC...i cleaned it out useed a > little wdd40..the valve was working just perfectly anyway..no > trick...so i figured if it would be the idle i could just drive the car > anyway and deal with the high idle..started the car and put it into 1st > and statred going...after awhile i relaized i didnt even need any > gas..the car was driving by its frikin slef...and when i put in the > clutch the rpms went sky high again..i check the throttle cable and > actual pedal and everything is fine...i have heard of something called > a throttle positioning switch..could this be it...whats the deal?please > help u guys are great...out of all the problems im had this is the > strangest.. > > brad > > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ > Before you buy. > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
