Update on situation - requested by responders: I considered patching the tank leak somehow, but didn't want to contaminate the cooling system with anything to save a few bucks. Sat morning-found a Saab dealer parts dept OPEN on Sat til noon in Watertown CT - they had the reservoir tank in stock for $57 and I ran the 48 miles to pick it up so I could get it right into the car today. I took the Saab because I wanted to see how it ran on the highway temperature-wise. I concentrated on not dipping into the turbo much to see if that kept the temp down, and it seemed to, although I hit it a couple of times and the temp didn't go too much higher. When I got home, I decided to let the car idle momentarily while I shot the garden hose into the radiator to cool down the coolant in order to work on replacing the tank. After changing the tank, I started it again to get the coolant flowing thru the system to judge if the amount I replaced was enough, and I found that after idling for 15 minutes, the temp never went above halfway. I think blowing the hose thru the radiator may have done it - perhaps it was just crudded up, not allowing enough air through. My wife has since used the car and again it never rose above halfway, so maybe that did it. I'm gonna keep an eye on it, but I'm optimistic that possibly the combination of losing some of the coolant steadily, my wife generally driving it locally and hitting the turbo a little too much, and possibly not getting optimum airflow thru the radiator may be the cause of this hot-running. I asked about the radiator while at the dealer, and was quoted a price of $260, which is frankly less than I thought I'd pay for it at a dealer. He had it in stock, too, and I still may need it, but I'm hoping not... Dennis djmr26nopsamweb.net Putnam Co NY "I'm not suffering from insanity; actually it's a lot of fun."
