Subject: 1990 900 SRS question

I'm having some SRS problems that I was hoping someone might have some clues to. In the past two years I've gone through two contact reels and again the SRS light is on. I had it at the dealer yesterday and they said the diagnostic unit returned sveral error codes but when they tracked it down that it was an internal error in the SRS main control unit. Estimated replacement cost $1800. Heh. Right. Has anyone else had this problem on a similar 900? I have a hard time believing the control unit would just give out. I've done a little research and it seems the NG900 had some problems with the wiring harness for the SRS which was often diagnosed as an SRS controller failure. Does anyone know is this may also be a problem with OG 900s? Also, does anyone know cost of replacing a wiring harness. I would imgaine it's a lot less than the $1800 I was quoted. Thanks for any clues you may be able to give. -klaus
