You can test the unit by looking for sparks while the unit is lifted. However, two people are needed, one for cranking the engine and one for the inspection. Be careful though, keep well away from the high tension coils. The coils in the DI unit are situated in a very hot environment, getting heat directly from engine block as well as from the current. The failure is usually caused by a coil burning through its insulation material. Johannes
