The other I bought a 1991 900 16V2.1l with approx. 256,000 km. When cold the engine produces a lot of noise which, I assume, is caused by the hydraulic valve tappets. It sound like a diesel engine. After five to ten minutes the sound becomes rather normal, after 15 minutes it sounds normal. The guy how sold me the car said it could be no harm, but on the other hand the Haynes Manual says that the tappets have to be replaced occasionally, so what to do. Thanks in advance for any information.
