Subject: 89 9000CD Turbo electronics problems

I just purchased an 89 9000CD Turbo with 98K miles. I have a couple of questions: Is it normal for the climate control to come on automatically every time I start the car? It seems to favor defrost as the default setting, which seems a little odd to me, especially since I have the thermostat set at 68 and the ambient temp is much higher than that. Second, does anybody have any insight into why the cool air, no matter what the setting (defrost, heat, vent, bilevel...), comes out the defrost vents? Can I outsmart this system if the electronics are shot (that is, can I easily access the workings of the regulators and switch it over to vent myself?) Third, if I leave the stereo on as I shut off the car, I have to pull the stereo fuse out in order to start the car. It's very odd. Thanks, DM Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
