Yes, I could see that from my message one could infer that the warranty period on the 9-3 is only two years. That's not the case. Essentially my decision is this: do I trade it in on a new one somewhere around 100K, or do I get the extended warranty and try to drive the car into the ground (or at least until the end of the extended warranty period). My 9000 was, in nine months, in the shop 7 or 8 times, and cost about 3000 bucks in maintenance. It would have been even more had I not got the dealer who sold me the car to cover the cost of some of the repairs. Many of these repairs would have been covered by an extended warranty package, I believe. Some wouldn't have. > My '88 900 is holding up well. As I said in an earlier post, my 99 was a great car that we drove into the ground. We got excellent value for our money on that car. The 9000, not so much. So far, knock wood, the 9-3 has been a superb vehicle. The only thing I miss is the all-wheel drive we had on our Subaru, and I very much hope that Saab will be bringing AWD into their cars with the next re-design, now that Audi, volvo, and BMW are jumping on that bandwagon. My notion of trading in at two or three years is also informed by the possible improvements to the car with the '02 redesign coming up... -- Viktor Haag Senior Technical Writer, RIM '79 99, '89 9000T, '00 9-3 SE My opinions are my own, only. tc++ ru ge(+) !3i c jt- au(-) pi+ he(+)
