Josh, I liked your comment about "being short on money, I don't want to waste any on parts that won't do the job." and was going to ask when was the last time you bled the clutch hydraulic system. This seems to be a forgotton maintenance item (probably because it is a little complicated and can get messy) but could resolve those nasty clutch problems or prevent them from happening. I bled my clutch last weekend and, even though I last did it two years ago, the first several ounces of fluid that came out was black. In any case, you might want to give it a try. Even if it doesn't work, you will need all the same tools for when you replace the master cylinder, so you can consider this to be a practice run. All you would be wasting is some brake fluid. I suggest you get the large, quart bottle.
