Rick, I've had AM radio noise problems with this car. In an effort to solve the problem, I tried to shield the ignition wires with aluminum foil. You can probably fill in the gaps. This worked well for about a month, but apparently insulation on the wires broke down and started to arc to the grounded foil. The surging problem disappeared as soon as I removed the foil. I should have checked this immediately. What a dope! Thanks for your response.
