Subject: Re: 9-3 Pirelli tyres

I owned a '98 900 2.0S (non-turbo) for 40K miles, shod with 195/60 P6000s, which needed new fronts every 12K. The original rears lasted the full 40K, but were barely legal by that time. I attributed the high wear not just to my indulgent driving techniques, but also to the nature of my daily commute - about 50 miles of twisty back roads and a dozen or so new-town roundabouts every day. I now have a 2000 9-3 185hp Turbo, shod with fatter (205/50) michelins. I've only done 4K miles so far, so can't be sure - but the signs are the tyres are doing better, despite the increased power (and correspondingly, even more indulgent driving!). Maybe 16-20K expected up front. When the P6000s needed changed I was surprised to find that my local Saab main dealer actually quoted cheaper than all the fast-fit tyre chains I contacted (I paid £137 UK per pair in March 1999, all inclusive). Admittedly, when I challenged my local fast-fit centre with this, they did offer me a similar price. - Bill In article <8qqprd$5rg$1nopsamonium.btinternet.com>, Nick Bennett <bennett_nnopsamail.com> writes >I changed the P6000's on the front of my 9-3 at 28,000 miles.
