Subject: 900 gear shift

I wonder if anyone out there can assist ? I'm having experiencing a 'notchiness' changing up and down in my '90 900 5 speed gearbox. Milelage - 110,000. I've recently changed the oil with 10W 40 motor oil (as recommended by Haynes) and this has helped a little. The owners club technical guru says to check the gearshift rod coupling between transmission and rod, but I'm not sure where these actually are located. The trouble (looking at the workings of the gear lever and attached rod inside the cabin), appear to be in the gearbox itself. Question :- What are the worn bits to look for and how do you get at them to replace ? Any advise / info would be most appreciated, Steve.
