Subject: 2001 9-3 - new key!

I had the pleasure to drive one of these as a loaner while my 99 is being fixed - yes, I'm still fixing the heater control knobs! I'm really glad to tell you folks that they have invented a new key. It is ovalish and a little larger than the present key, but minus the remote. It's quite nice. According to the dealer, I'll be able to purchase these some day. I hope very soon. Other than that, I didn't notice a great deal of really significant changes in the car, nor did it drive differently than mine other than being brand new. Making the forward facing side of the mirrors metalic instead of black plastic may not be a great idea. I can see more noticibility with chips or wear in time than the black. The onstar intenna looks a little like a shark fin, but I personally would not want it hooked up or installed. The steering wheel has a different texture to it. I'm not used to it yet and like my leather feel. The imbedded insignia is different too. There seems to be more rubber like cushioning around the door edges - I guess to either cut down on rattles or road noise. I didn't really notice the difference and my 99 doesn't have any rattles yet. Oh yes, and there's traction control button. If you have it switched off it lights up brightly near the speedometer. That's it.....
