Here in Arizona, I rarely get longer than 2 years from a battery -- no matter how much I pay for them. I've begun to only buy batteries with a "2 year free replacement" warranty. Unfortunately, batteries here tend to give very little or no warning before they die. For instance, I took my car out at about 7 pm, and it started fast and fine. The very next morning the battery was completely dead. No amount of charging would get it to work.
