Subject: Re: Saab 900 reliability?

Hello, I owned a 85 900 up to two weeks ago, and loved it. The truck behind me was a bit jealous of a beautiful Swede and rammed right into it. The Saab is a great car for Nordic weather, it is right at home there, because reminds it of its home in the sub-artic lands of Sweden. The cost of new parts can be high, but I have noticed that they have come down since GM bought them fully. Find a reputable dealer in you area and see what they have in stock. Don't let the opinions of the anti-GM side sway your opinions, I have heard that a lot of people like the newer cars. Parts for the older cars are more readily available because of "retired" vehicles at local auto-recyclers (junk yards for you non-PC crew), so there are advantages for both sides. Try to stay away from the base model Saab's from the 80's, no power at all. Go for a S or Turbo model with a manual transmission. While the standards have their eccentrics, but are much more fun. Look for power heated seats, they are a real plus in the colder climates of the great white north. Nothing like a warm tush on a very cold day. Get the center console, it makes adding stereo components much easier, since it has a second DIN slot. I hope my rambling has helped, Jeremy in MA, USA
