hello, well, I can't point you to any specs, but I can give you a recommendation. what year are you thinking of buying - and are you looking for a perfect specimen, or do you not mind doing a little fix-up. I have an '87 900 Turbo 16v and I LOVE IT!!! its my first Saab, but definitely not my last one. I would strongly suggest the 2.0L 16v engine, particularly with Turbo. it has wonderful power, yet I'm able (with moderation in my driving) to get mid 30's gas mileage (US miles/gal). things to look for: make sure the Turbo sounds nice and "tight" (a good "whooshing, whining" noise on accel), watch for hints of looseness in the tierod ends, and even ball joints, listen for possible chain-slap, or rattle (timing chain), also poor intermittently bad shifting may mean the engine mount bushing are bad. also, if you find stuttering on acceleration and increasing boost level, there is a good chance the alternator may be failing (easy to replace). hope this was helpful. and enjoy the hunt and rewards... -- Nate t.
