Subject: looking fo input on problem

i purchased an 87 9000 turbo 4000 miles ago. it's been getting 28-30 mpg. no problems have been seen until last weekend. saturday morning it needed about a quart of water. i drove it saturday and sunday with no problem or water usage. monday morning it started a little rough. kind of like it had a full cylinder. i went to town with white smoke coming out the back and it used a gallon of water in 10 miles on the way to the mechanics shop. it has water in the oil and oil in the water. the water system appears to be presurizing prior to heatup and at least one cylinder is syphoning water in upon cooldown. i though blown head gasket but the mechanic says it's probably a spot on the head that has corroded through i conjunction with the gasket. the car has a water cooled turbo, could it be that? possitive input as to a diagnosis would be appreciated. please reply to the news group thanks
