Inside the liner, along the rails of the soft top on my 90-900T cabriolet, is a steel cable on each side, which has one end riveted to the front of the rail, and the other end terminated in a spring, which is attached to the rail at the C pillar by a screw. What function does this pair of cables perform? I've found that the end of the spring which is held by the screw is broken, on both cables, so the ends just flap around. Is it possible that the breakage of the cables could contribute to either fabric or pump failure if left uncorrected?
