I have a 1991 900S which is making some bad bad noises. When I start the car cold, in the morning (I live in New England, USA) the noise starts up and is dependent on the engine speed (not the car speed). When I turn the steering wheel the noise gets louder (regardless of engine speed). The power steering feels like it is still working fine though, even when the noise is present. As I drive the noise slowly goes away. After about 10 minutes the noise is completely gone, even when turning the wheels at a complete stop. The only other possibly useful tid bit is that I have to add about 1/2 qt of power steering fluid ever 2-3 weeks or so. The car leaks fluid (which I assume is power steering fluid) from under the engine compartment, quite readily. But I do a good job of keeping the resevoir full and that seems to have no effect on the aforementioned noise. Personally, I would guess that there's something wrong with the power steering pump and that it isn't getting enough fluid until things warm up. But I'm not exactly sure how that would happen. And I would think my steering would be difficult before the car warmed up. But it isn't. Thoughts, suggestions, experiences, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks! mark
