February, 2001 Dear Fellow Saab Enthusiast, We'd like to welcome you to the renewed and revitalized New England Saab Association! What started over 3 years ago as merely a notion of a New England club, has grown and developed into the real thing, covering all 6 states and gaining momentum each month. And in an attempt to encompass all of New England and bring the club to you, we've followed through on the idea of having meetings and events in each state, inviting every member to play an active role in this organization. Our first meeting of the New Year was held at Gary Blake Saab, Exeter, NH on January 6th. 18 Saab enthusiasts braved the snow and ice, driving in from Maine and Massachusetts, as well as New Hampshire. There were even some diehard Saab fanatics who arrived early that morning to help the Gary Blake crew dig out the 9-3s and 9-5s from the previous night's snowstorm. We discussed the variety of benefits of joining the new club, and here is just some of what you can get by being a member of NESA: - A forum for the exchange of Saab-related information and sharing of enthusiasm in the New England area - Events for social get-togethers, showing off your Saab, learning how to get better performance, and enjoy it even more - Member discounts for registration and lodging at events - Parts and service discounts at local area dealers and retailers - Technical clinics and driving skills enhancement - Access to an archive of Saab-related material, including a lending library of Saab books, manuals, and brochures. - Club web-site with an events calender, listing of parts and service resources, classified ads for cars and parts, as well as updates on the latest Saab information in New England and beyond. - Club meetings to exchange ideas and further define the group's role in New England All in all, we covered a great deal of ground in terms of where we're heading and what events we'd like to plan for this year. We encourage all Saab owners, enthusiasts and admirers to attend our meetings and offer their assistance and ideas to make this club fun and enjoyable for all ages. To see a list of our upcoming events and meetings, please go to www.nesaab.org and check out our events calender for 2001. This brings us to the topic of dues. In order to promote and present the activities we'd like to do as a formal club, and given the ongoing costs of maintaining the website and running the club, it will be necessary to charge a nominal fee of $30 for membership. But rest assured, the money you can save in discounts at just one of our events can more than cover this fee. And you'll know that your membership dollars are helping to provide financing to host events, maintain and update the website, as well as helping to further the goals of the club. As an added incentive, Charter Memberships are being offered allowing you to take a 2nd year of membership for just $10 more. This special offer will be available through October 31, 2001. If you would like to maintain your membership with us, and take advantage of all the club benefits listed above, we ask that you log onto our web-site at www.nesaab.org and fill out an application form. Our next two meetings/events are slated for March 16-18th at Crossway Saab and Stowe, Vermont, and April 14th at Wigwam Saab in Providence, Rhode Island. Details for these events are on the web-site. Our March meeting will be followed by a Saturday night get-together with vintage Saab videos, and then skiing at Stowe on Sunday (and Saturday too, if you choose) with discounted lift tickets. Many of you may want to arrive Friday night, and the lodging for Friday and Saturday night is discounted as well. Please register through the web-site by March 10th if you're interested in this event. April's meeting will be combined with a tech session on the Saab Nordic Tune-ups available at Wigwam. We hope to see you there! Best Regards, Ryan Emge New England Saab Association (NESA) P.O. Box 119, Keene, New Hampshire 03431 E-mail: infonopsamab.org, URL: www.nesaab.org
