Subject: Opinions: Aero Wagon vs. BMW 525it?

I'm about to decide on a replacement for my 11-year-old Volvo wagon. The decision is down to a 525it (manual) vs. a Saab 9-5 Aero wagon. (I've ruled out Audi and Volvo, for a variety of reasons.) All other things being generally equal, these seem to be the key considerations right now... Engine: Bimmer's quieter, smoother 6 vs. Saab's potent Turbo 4 (with a lot more horsepower!). I'm assuming I can get better longevity from the BMW's powerplant? Drive: Bimmer RWD vs. Saab's FWD (I live in the Philadelphia area, where it's snowing today -- this could be a VERY big issue... and I am somewhat spoiled by my other car, an Audi A4 Quattro, which is great on icy/snowy/wet roads). It sounds like I would absolutely need snow tires for the Bimmer... probably not for the Saab. Durability (see above): As I generally buy and hold my cars for the long run, will the Saab hold up as well as I assume the BMW will? Reliability: anyone have any comments on either side? Intangibles: the Saab is funkier (noisier, busier, etc.), but a very spirited performer, but having driven Audis for several years, I have grown very accustomed to the tightness and overall refinement -- and the amazing braking -- of the German cars. Again, all things being relatively equal, I'd love to hear thoughts on the relative merits. I'm genuinely torn...
