That depends on engine speed (its a lot worse/noticable in 5th too). Are you positive its engine noise and not gearbox/transmission instead as KiethG says?. Mines only done 150k miles and its pretty worn. Yours should also be pretty worn at 214k miles! I bought some additive to put in the gearbox of the old 99 i had before this, and that made it a lot quiter. Was really cheap too..
