You don't think you use it? The ACC system does. It's part of the climate control for the car including winter driving. I would suggest replacing it and make your car run like it was in intended. If you plan in selling the car, a missing AC is a big negative. Find a good indy AC or Saab shop that knows what they are doing. It's common to see these units cook with age. Mine did. Smoked the belt right off in the middle of nowhere. Cut the belt off and continued home. I believe the ACC uses the AC to help with defrosting and balancing the heater as it's basically, always available as the ACC unit calls for it. I believe some 9000s in other markets were sold with the ACC, but they had the older style rotary controls.
