If I were comparing an Aero with a CSE from any earlier year, there would be no contest -- I'd buy the Aero. But I've been told that 1998 was different -- that mechanically the 1998 CSE is an Aero, that it lacks only the interior and exterior fashion package of the Aero. If this is all true, then the general comparison between CSEs and Aeros does not apply. 1998 was the final year for the 9000. The story goes that only 1300 were imported into the US. Saab built a limited number to empty their parts bins and tide over until the 9-5 was fully available. I have confirmed that the story is correct at least in regard to the engine. The 5spd 1998 CSE has the 225hp Aero engine (the 4spd automatic does not). But I've not been able to confirm whether it has the Aero suspension. David "David G.
