Subject: Re: Fuel pump dead on '92 900 S w/ 88K miles

i've had 6 different 900's putting close to 700k miles on them myself. all were used cars with high mileage and i never had to replace the fuel pump on any of them. i did incorretly diagnos the fuel pump once as being defective. turned out to be the ignition switch. if you want to know for sure hook up 12v to the pump direct from the battery. i used speaker wire for a temporary test and found the pump to work fine. looking furthur i found the ignitions switch contacts to be melted, most likely due to my driving 100% of the time with the head lights on. the switch got hot, the plastic supporting the contact allowed the contacts to seperate. the switch module cost $27.00 and was a big hassle to install due to the rivets that are used to close the housing having to be drilled out. in any event thats my input to your problem. hope i have helped.
