Is it automatic or manual? On my (much older 2.3) 9000 auto, there is a definite improvement in performance if you do your round town and country lanes driving in 3rd instead of 4th. A colleague tells me that in his Saab manual it refers to 3rd as being a sports mode, but I can't find it in my manual.
