The theory goes that the speakers produce a back emf of their actual movement like a dynamo, this emf sensed in the feed-back loop of the amplifier, which then can correct a false movement of the speakers. Since the feed-back ratio is extremely high in such amplifiers, it is important to lower the dynamical resistance as much as possible. Particularly if the speaker wires are quite long as they need to be in clubs etc. Since this theory got around, the religious enthusiasts bought heavy gauge speaker wires for their domestic speakers. No harm done, especially if they have a $10000 system, then the price of the wires will not have any great effect on their wallet. But for a car sound system, a diminishing rate of return sets in which should be balanced with the desire to keep the weight down. Johannes
