Look in your wallet, consider retirement and the kids college education. >> I have also been told if you >> don't rev the snot out of the car it is not a very pleasant daily commuter. A misunderstanding perhaps. Saab uses a small motor with a turbo. So, it does not have a lot of torque from the start line - unless you rev it a bit to spin up the turbo (at that point you'll be more concerned with keeping it on the ground :-). Once you get used to a turbo it's a _lot_ of fun. At speed, there's nothing like tapping the throttle and watching that boost guage peg as you surge forward. >> I was told the BMW 3 series is a much better all around auto. It's more of a status thing. Honestly, BMW has a reputation as a snob's car. Some folks like to pay thousands extra for that reputation. In daily driving, the Saab is probably more fun. Certainly it's more unique. If you are a daily road racer, the BMW probably has more upper end limit and off the line capability due to rear wheel drive. However, most folks can't drive well enough to reach the point where they hit the limit. There are also many more aftermarket parts for the BMW if you plan to modify the suspension or motor. However, there's plenty of what you need for the Saab too. >> I also read >> smoething about the driver's seat being positioned toward the left side of >> the car. Sit in it, it's comfortable. Not much different that my other cars. 50 miles for you to the Saab dealer ? How far to the BMW dealer ? If you don't do your own work, that's a consideration. There's nothing like having a dealer close by, particularly when the car is under warranty. Probably not the most important factor (you don't spend all that might time at the dealer) but maybe a consideration. Bob
