I chose Saab over the 3-series because the Saab is cheaper, has front-wheel drive (more important for snow, although some people say that BMWs handle "great" in the snow), has more interior room (period -- this doesn't include the hatchback), is a hatchback, and gets better gas mileage (if you lay off the turbo, it's a 4-cyl.). I have a Viggen and can't imagine wanting more power. Perhaps after I get used to it, I'll want more, but for now it's too fast. Were I to buy a BMW, I'd have to buy the 330Ci (the 325 is too slow and is underpowered), and to get all the bells and whistles that the Viggen has, I'd have to pay about 45k (US dollars). That's too expensive. You can get a stripped BMW for cheaper, but I like the bells and whistles.
