My daughter's school car is an '87 900S 16-valve with the Borg-Warner 37 3-speed automatic transmission. The car is in excellent condition overall, including the engine. The transmission shifts smoothly (does not slip beteween shifts under normal driving conditions) and seems basically OK considering there is nearly 125K on the clock. The transmission fluid and filter have been changed at regular intervals. The only transmission problem I've detected is a strange one: when making a "sweeping" left hand turn from either stopped at a light or at slow speeds while in first gear, the transmission seems to shift to a higher gear or possibly is slipping. It almost seems or feels like it's "kicking down" into passing gear. I'll have to look at the tach the next time this occurs. This anomoly occurs on left turns "only." I've double checked the ATF fluid level - is it possible that the transmission throttle cable needs to be adjusted? Or, is this a sign of impending doom and expensive work to come? Any ideas would be appreciated. Tnx, Don Allen Urbana, IL '85 900 8-valve '87 900S 16-valve
