What actually went wrong? There are 1) Saab filters, 2) branded filters and 3) obscure filters. However, the filter is a fairly inexpensive item, so there is no need to use obscure filters. If a filter works, it works. But there is a probability of manufacturing defects in those groups which might differ. In particular, the thread might be ill-fitting, allowing oil to seep out. Check the oil once a while to supervise the situation. This is easily forgotten; my 93 9000 CSE never uses a drop of oil, so there are usually few surprises when checking the oil. Johannes
