Having said that, it's more likely to be the centering springs than the balljoint, that's whant I've come across more oftern. To get to these, you'll have to pull out the center console. Not very difficult, take you maybe half an hour first time round. Once you get to them, grease them well, and that'll stop the noise. But try oiling the balljoint first.
