We're looking at buying a 1996 9000CS. It's sad to say, but a 5 year old Saab rides and performs better than a new Accord. So I fear I'm suffering Saab fever. Anyway...the car has 77,000 miles on it with the 2.3l low boost turbo and the 4-speed auto -- I know, I know, but my wife demands an automatic. Leather seats. Power everything. The asking price is 14,995 USD but we think we can get them down to about 12,000. The car is absolutly cherry and appears to have been lightly used. About the only defects I've found are really minor. A couple of very minor stone chips in the nose and the cup holder insert that's supposed to be in the console compartment is missing. A title search says that the car was a rental (Budget?) originally. I noticed that the instrument cluster doesn't have a boost gauge for the turbo, even thought the owner's manual says that it ought to be there -- was that a quirk of the US model 9000CS, oris that something peculiar to 9000s produced for rentals? It goes to the Saab doctors tommorow for a through survey. Any thoughts on whether or not this is a decent deal is appreciated, especialy negative comments -- stop me from getting addicted! This 9000 *is* the best car I've driven in a long long time. Cheers, Nicholas --
