My Saab 900 2.1i 16v from 91 does not ignite sometimes. That means the starter motor turns but the engine does not ignite. When I wait 5 to 10 minutes the engine ignites again. Sometimes even during driving the engine stops abruptly and I have to wait 5 to 10 minutes before it ignites again. Therefore in my opinion the problem seems temperature-related. This also, because another problem I have is that the temperature meter shows very often in the red overheated section although the engine is actually not overheated and sometimes even rather cold. When I knock than at the meter it shows the real temperature. In first instance I thought that this was the cause of the ignition problem but my Saab serviceman said that it is probably not. I have also a start-interruptor (I don't know how this is called in English, but it is such thing wich is ment to prevent thiefs to start the car). The serviceman thinks that this could be the problem. Otherwise he needs to check the electrical system for wich I have to miss the car for two days. Does someone know more about this problem?
