Manual transmission? Son-in-law had a similar problem with his 94 9000. Shop diagnosed it as bad sender unit. Replaced sender unit, but still had problem. Problem was traced to a broken plastic piece in the transmission which turned the sender unit. Looks like a bracelet. End result--dealer recommended transmission replacement. Independent shop rebuilt transmission (can't get at part without dismantling everything) . While in there, replaced clutch (no additional labor) for grand total of $1997.40. Hope yours is simply a bad sender unit! Dick in Falls Church
