my theory is that a small meteorite struck and penetrated the back window with so much force that made the hole but left the shattered window behind. check the back deck for a small stone about the size of a pencil eraser. of course if was a meteorite consisting of ice it would have melted by now, you know those things get pretty hot comming into the atmosphere.
